Las Vegas Water and Sewer Connection Charges: LVVWD, SNWA and City Sewer (2026)
Connecting a new home in the City of Las Vegas involves three public agencies. The Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) provides the water service and collects its own charges plus the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) Regional Connection Charge; the City of Las Vegas collects the sewer connection charge. For a single-family home with a 5/8-inch meter on a lot with under 70 feet of frontage, the published charges come to about $16,815, before the cost of the meter itself. The SNWA charge alone is $7,998, and it goes up every March 1 under a formula already in LVVWD’s rules.
Official fees at a glance
The table below lists every Las Vegas row we verified. The LVVWD rows come from Appendix I of the district’s Service Rules, with connection charges in effect from March 1, 2026. Read them in three groups. The SNWA Regional Connection Charge and LVVWD Facilities Connection Charge are capacity charges priced by meter size. The frontage charge is priced per foot of lot frontage along the street or easement. The rest (application, inspection, service installation, oversizing, meter installation) are charges for processing and physical work. The last row is the City of Las Vegas sewer charge, priced per equivalent residential unit (ERU), with a single-family home counting as one ERU.

Worked example: a new single-family home
Assumptions: a detached home at 8 or fewer units per acre, inside the City of Las Vegas sewer service area, with LVVWD installing the service. We include the oversizing charge because LVVWD lists it by meter size for these services; ask whether it applies to your job. The unknowns are meter size and frontage, so here are three cases.

The frontage line works like this: 80 feet × $17 = $1,360, while any parcel with less than 70 feet of chargeable frontage pays the $1,190 minimum. The meter itself is billed at cost, and a backflow prevention assembly, where required, is listed at $840; neither is in the totals.
The 1-inch column shows why meter size matters so much here. Moving from a 5/8-inch to a 1-inch meter nearly doubles the SNWA charge ($15,780 vs $7,998) and adds $3,556 to the facilities charge, With the higher application and oversizing charges, the 1-inch total is $11,928 above the 5/8-inch total.
What these fees don’t include
The published charges cover capacity, the water service up to the meter and the city’s sewer capacity. The water line from the meter to the house, the private sewer line, trenching, and the building department’s plumbing permit are separate. National estimates (methodology):
- Water line from meter to house: $30–$150 per foot, typical $50. At 40 feet, about $2,000.
- Sewer line from house to main: $50–$250 per foot, typical $100. At 60 feet, about $6,000.
- The meter itself, which LVVWD bills at cost: our national estimate for a 5/8- to 1-inch meter set is $200–$500, typical $300.
- Plumbing permit: $100–$1,300, typical $300.

How and when you pay
LVVWD bills the SNWA and district charges through its own application process; the application fee is set by meter size ($140 for 5/8 inch, $210 for 3/4 inch, $350 for 1 inch). The service connection installation charge covers the service excluding the meter, and it is the same $1,177 for 5/8-by-3/4-, 3/4- and 1-inch services. Changing a meter size later costs the meter plus $45.
The city’s sewer connection charge is collected through the City of Las Vegas Building and Safety department, according to the 2026 Sewer Connection Charges sheet, which bases every charge on a $3,235 ERU effective January 1, 2026.
Changes to watch
- The SNWA Regional Connection Charge adjusts every March 1: by 6.5% plus the ENR Construction Cost Index change through 2027, and by the index alone from 2028, per LVVWD Service Rules Appendix I. It rose from $7,358 (March 1, 2025) to $7,998 (March 1, 2026), an increase of $640.
- The LVVWD Facilities Connection Charge also adjusts each March 1 by the ENR index. Expect new figures on March 1, 2027.
- The city sewer ERU went from $2,979 in 2025 to $3,235 on January 1, 2026, an increase of $256. The sheet is published by calendar year.
