About Utility Cost Guide

Utility Cost Guide is an independent research project that publishes U.S. utility connection fee data and planning calculators. The Utility Cost Guide research team collects published fee documents, records their dates and sources, and explains how a project estimate is assembled.

What we do

We organize public fee schedules and other official documents so you can find applicable charges, compare line items, and plan questions for your utility. Our calculators combine verified published fees, your inputs, and labeled national estimates where local information is unavailable.

What we do not do

We are not a utility or a contractor. We do not connect service, issue permits, inspect property, or provide binding prices. An estimate is not a quote. Confirm fees, eligibility, scope, and timing directly with the utility and any contractor you hire.

Funding and independence

Advertising is planned. Our advertising disclosure explains the current arrangement and how any future partnerships would be identified. Advertisers do not set fee data or calculator results. Read our editorial policy and sources and data policy for more detail.
