About Utility Cost Guide
Utility Cost Guide (UCG) publishes U.S. utility connection fees (water, sewer, electric and gas tap and hookup charges) with a link to the official document behind every number. It exists because these fees are buried in PDFs, ordinances and rate sheets that are hard to find and compare when you are planning a build.
Who runs it
UCG is published and edited by Muhammet Çay, who operates it as a sole proprietorship registered in Istanbul, Türkiye. He founded the site and edits it. He researches each fee and checks it against the utility’s own published fee schedules, ordinances and rate documents before it goes into the database. We do not claim engineering, legal or utility-industry credentials, and nothing here is professional advice.
What the site contains
The fee database holds the official water, sewer, electric and gas fees for the 122 cities across 34 states that have their own page on this site (as of October 2026). Each fee row links to its source document and shows the date we verified it. Rows whose newest official schedule is old, or that we could not re-confirm, are flagged “Confirm with utility” instead of being shown as current. Our calculators combine these verified fees with your inputs and labeled national estimates where no local figure exists. The full process is described in our methodology and sources and data policy.
The dataset is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0. A copy is also on GitHub.
What we do not do
We are not a utility, contractor, engineer or government agency. We do not connect service, issue permits, inspect property or give binding prices. An estimate is not a quote. Confirm fees, eligibility, scope and timing with the serving utility before you commit money.
Independence and funding
UCG is not affiliated with any utility or government agency and does not sell services. We take no payment for listings, rankings or placement. The site is meant to be supported by advertising; see the advertising disclosure and editorial policy. Advertisers have no say over fee data or calculator results.
